Summer Vibes

Summer Vibes
School’s out for summer and millions of us are planning to jet off all over the globe. So tell us where in the world are you holidaying to this year and let us know if find any hidden gems? Staycations are becoming even more popular. The UK might not be known for its sun drenched summers, but it is known for its spectacular beauty spots up and down the country, it’s no wonder people are choosing to stay at home.

So what is Chatter Bags up to this summer? Well, lots of work and continuing to connect people offline. We have a couple of events and the usual popups lined up.  Some of us have set off already and the rest of us are going all over the place, from Greece to Malaysia, Bilbao to Torquay. It’s going to be an action packed season, filled with lots of fun activities along the way.

Greece is magical, we did the usual exciting work stuff and chatted with companies about our concept and the benefits for schools, events and the tourism sector. It was a wonderful experience and look forward to seeing what happens in the near future. On our trip, we slipped away for some island hopping and discovered Hydra and Spetses. Wow! Both islands are so uniquely beautiful Hydra is a traffic free island and Spetses is pretty much the same but they have a few mopeds and one or two buses. Hydra was our favourite, so welcoming and so special. The island oozed culture and community. The food was awesome and the locals were even more awesome. You really need to check out these islands. It’s the first time I’ve heard of them but it won’t be the last they see of me.

Speaking of jet setting, The Chatter Bags World Tour is ongoing. I’m sure you’ve seen the ladies adventures on social media. After clocking up thousands of air miles in June they’re at it again, and this time they were in Majorca and Germany. Super! Follow their journey here . Where to next?

You can keep us up to date with all things social and any ideas you might have for Chatter Bags in your area? Email us here

That’s it, have a safe and social holiday season,

We will chat to you all in August!

Big Love,

Chatter Bags World Tour

Chatter Bags World Tour
Yes, it’s true!

Chatter Bags is on a World Tour and it’s all thanks to one of the winners of the Babla Bloggers Abroad Competition 2017.

Now we’re no strangers to posting our bags all around the globe and getting photos sent to us from famous landmarks. It’s a daily routine and part of our business but this time, it’s really special.  When we got the email from Katia in May that Chatter Bags is going on a world tour we thought, awesome! What a great idea and can we come?…

The Tour is being organised by the ladies from one of the well-deserved winning blogs, Donne che Emigrano all’Estero . Check out the website.  The tour is starting off in The Seychelles (wow). It will continue around the world and I’m sure the ladies will have many stories to write about along the way. How exciting!! The blog is written by women from all over the world telling their story and we feel honoured to be part of their adventures.

We will keep you all updated on our twitter on the whereabouts of the women. So far they have been to (as mentioned above) the first stop was the Seychelles, after that they made their way back to the UK, then over to my homeland Ireland (Very Proud) and now Norway. Where to next?? Follow the journey on their FaceBook give them a like and of course a follow.

We dedicate the month of June to these wonderful women.

In July we’ll be talking about our work trip to Greece and our other events and of course, we’ll be chatting about the Chatter Bags World Tour!

Catch up soon,

Big Love,

Mark X

May Moments

May Moments
Summer is in the air and we had not one, but two bank holidays to get us in the mood for the season ahead. The weather is hotting up and it’s time to get your social on!

May was full of bits and bobs from attending entrepreneur events to out meeting people on the streets of London and chatting about the world we live in, what we can do to help make it a better place to be.

The best thing about attending entrepreneur events is being able to connect with people like you and I. People who want to make a difference, people who take a risks and are not afraid to express themselves. It takes a lot to pluck up the courage and do your own thing and some of these people have helped change the way we live today. I totally recommend it, my only advice; research and then research so more!!

Chatting to people on the street: We were all over the place from Covent Garden to Canary Wharf and the vibe was pretty much the same. People are finding it difficult to meet people and friends now more than ever. There are so many apps out there to help us find friends and love but are our relationships becoming more superficial and less rewarding? We’ve written about it in the past, modern life is making us lonelier and we need to act now to prevent getting caught up in a bubble.

Covent Garden was really touristy as you'd expect and people were more willing to have a quick chat. Most people we spoke to loved the city but didn’t find us(Londoners) helpful or approachable and found it very fast moving. It was very difficult to get someone’s attention in Canary Wharf, people did not want to talk. Eventually, we got chatting to a few and they said "the virtual world is for a fast paced lifestyle" and it works for some people, but they preferred how it use to be.  They said, "the public has ‘FOMO’ (Fear of Missing Out)". All of the people we spoke to wanted to feel part of a community or feel welcomed and actually be recognised, but the world we live in today keeps us swiping our way through life with our heads down.  We showed them our Chatter Bags and explained why we created this concept. They loved our simple way to get people to talk, especially in a multicultural city like London. So our advice is; look up and all around you. You’ll get to enjoy our beautiful city and the wonderful people who live and visit it.

Look out for us in your area in the coming months.

Till next time,

Big Love

No fools here…

No fools here…
This month we start off talking about a talented bunch. We teamed up with and supported the Bloggers Abroad Event 2017.

This year was a real hit with thousands casting their vote. Bloggers Abroad is a competition held every year. is part of the Oxford dictionaries family since 2015. This particular event features the most engaging bloggers who write about their life abroad and their adventures in a foreign country. It was the perfect marriage for us and our “feel like a local everywhere” attitude. Our bags have been sent to all parts of the globe to the very deserving winners. Check out the top ten bloggers here. Get in touch and share your experiences.

We also teamed up with UKLingua at Durham University through our dear friend Nathalie Paris for the second meet up which took place on the weekend of the 22nd. This conference is aimed at all MFL, ESL teachers and researchers. Feedback was great with some wonderful snaps of the day shared on twitter.

We attend a huge amount of events this month. At the tall ships festival, we got chatting to people from all over, especially the crew from the Netherlands ships noticing our “I speak…” Chatter Bags. We have to mention the London marathon I mean, WOW! A few of the team were out showing their support just before the finish line. We watched people run like gazelles and others painstakingly finish the last mile, people of all ages and fitness levels entered this amazing event. The kindness was on tap and it showed the true spirit of Londoners and people from all over the world who took part. I was like a seal clapping so much with admiration for each and every one who entered and raised money.

I can’t leave you all without saying Happy Easter, I hope those of you who celebrated got a chance to share it with your nearest and dearest.  The greeting when we got back to work on Tuesday morning was not “Good Morning” but “so, what egg did you get?”

Finally, not one person caught me out with an April fool’s joke… #Winner!

Chat to you all in May!

Big Love,

Mark and the chocolate crazy team xx
